Engine Options

One big difference between the F-150 and F-250 capabilities comes from their engine lineups. Going with the 2024 Ford F-150 gives you a larger engine selection, but you’ll get a little more power from what comes under the hood of the 2024 Ford F-250. The F-150 offers Selma drivers a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 that’s capable of making 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Choose the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 or the 5.0-liter V-8 for 400 horsepower. The torque for these engines is 500 lb-ft for the 3.5-liter and 410 lb-ft for the V-8.

If you choose the F-150, you’ll also have the option of a hybrid engine that you can’t get for the F-250. This efficient hybrid powertrain is a 3.5-liter PowerBoost full hybrid V-6 that generates an exceptional 430 horsepower and up to 570 lb-ft of torque. For Raptor trims, there are two exclusive engines. To get 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, opt for the 3.5-liter twin-turbo high-output EcoBoost V-6. Your other option if you need even more power is a 5.2-liter supercharged V-8 that pumps out an incredible 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque.

The F-250 has four engine options. Trucks with a 6.8- or 7.3-liter V-8 will generate 405 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque or 430 horsepower and 485 lb-ft of torque, respectively.

There’s also a 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo-diesel engine, as well as a high-output version of this engine. If you opt for one of these, your truck will blow you away with its 474 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque with the Power Stroke turbo-diesel or 500 horsepower and 1,200 lb-ft of torque with the high-output version. All F-150 and F-250 engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Interior Features

Many of the interior features of the Ford F-Series trucks are similar because they offer several of the same trim levels. However, one of the F-150 features you won’t find in the F-250 is BlueCruise hands-free driving technology. This system allows for autonomous driving on some highways for a relaxing, stress-free drive. Both trucks have seating for up to six people depending on your cab size, and interior comforts and amenities increase at each trim level. Ford Co-Pilot360, a suite of safety and driver-assist technologies, is standard on F-150 and F-250 models.

Selma drivers will appreciate having the SYNC 4 infotainment system that works through either an 8- or 12-inch touch screen. This system lets you connect your smartphone via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to your truck so you can access apps, playlists, and more while you’re on the road. You also get a Wi-Fi hotspot with either truck so you can stay connected no matter where you go.

Uses and Abilities

When deciding between the 2024 F-150 vs. F-250, it really comes down to what you plan to use the truck for most frequently. You can tow up to 13,500 pounds with the F-150, which is a hefty load. But when you need even more pulling power, you might want to choose the F-250 for its 22,000 pound maximum towing capacity. The F-150 can handle a payload of up to 2,445 pounds, while the F-250 is the top contender if you’ve got serious stuff to haul with its maximum payload of as much as 4,268 pounds.

So if you’re just looking for a truck that can tow your toys or trailer for a weekend getaway, the F-150 can be the ideal Ford truck.
